Winter Alert... Humidity
Please make sure your guitars are properly humidified during the winter months.  This is the time when cold dry weather can damage the neck, fret board, and acoustic tops.

The best levels for humidity are between 40% - 50%.  Prolonged periods less than 35% can damage your instrument.

Individual guitars can be kept relatively safe using case humidifiers.  If you have several guitars, we suggest using a room humidifier like the Hunter Care-Free Humidifier Plus® Model #: 34357 or similar.

To keep an eye on the humidity levels we also suggest using a humidity gauge.  They usually can be purchased at a hardware store for around $12 - $15.

Fretboard Conditioner
It is a good idea to use some type of fretboard conditioner oil on the finger board of your guitar.  I usually apply a light coat each time I change the strings.  Most are usually made from lemon oil and provide some extra protection for your guitar.  They are also helpful in removing dirt and finger grit.

There are several brands available, but the one I prefer you won't usually find in music stores;  I use Howard's Feed-N-Wax.  It's made from a blend of Beeswax, Carnauba Wax, and Orange Oil.  It helps the fretboard hold moisture and gives it a deep rich look.
